Picking Hot Golf Course

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Picking the right course can help you get the most out of your golf game, and much of it depends on your skill and what you are looking for.

Many courses have a variety of levels; for instance the first nine holes may be easier while holes further beyond present more significant challenge. If you are an intermediate player, this can be the best option, with a mix of simple and difficult. If your party has a mixed amount of skill, an intermediate course may also be the best option. A middle of the road course may offer the best option; the less skilled players can handle the course, while more skilled players can still enjoy the game.

Some courses also have a reputation for a more lighthearted game versus a serious professional course. Look at what you’re seeking in a game Opt for a course that is of a lesser intensity if you are with family and friends. If you’re a serious golfer looking more to improve your game and less for the social aspect, opt for a course where you know similar players will be.

Elevation and terrain are also things to be considered for choosing a course. If there is higher elevation and hillier terrain, it may be more difficult for a golfer looking to walk the course. If you don’t mind using a cart, then differing terrain may not be a problem.

If you’re a fair weather player, consider your location as well. Is there a good amount of rainfall? You don’t want to be stuck in the middle of the course during a downpour. California and Florida courses, among others, are perfect golf environments with a good mixture of warmth and sun. Unpredictable weather can easily ruin a day of golf, so consider before going.
